Personalized Chiropractic Care Guide Kitchener Waterloo

Why your care is built around your own story, what the initial assessment is actually like, and how the plan changes as you do.

A supervised exercise at the clinic

At Sellars Chiropractic & Wellness Centre, I know you’ve got a healthcare story that’s entirely your own. At your initial assessment, I’ll take the time to actually uncover that story, and answer whatever questions or concerns you bring with you. That story is what shapes your treatment - and once we get started, I’ll keep monitoring your progress and adjusting things as your needs change along the way.

No Two Health Stories Are the Same

Because no one’s life looks quite like yours, no one’s health does either.

Your particular scenario matters - whether you’re young or a little more “seasoned,” pregnant with your first baby or chasing a toddler around the living room, a casual jogger or deep in marathon training.

If you’re a casual jogger dealing with back pain, that pain might be coming from a weak core.

If you’re training for a marathon, it might be repetitive strain from the sheer volume of training you’re putting your body through.

Here’s the thing - even two casual joggers with back pain might not share the same story at all. One might be dealing with poor posture from a desk job. The other might have a weak core layered on top of an old injury.

So I take the time to actually learn your story, because that’s what gives you the best shot at healing - not a generic one.

Your initial assessment uncovers your story

Your initial assessment isn’t a checklist I’m rushing through - it’s a real, thoughtful conversation.

I’ll ask about your health history, including any past accidents or traumas. We’ll talk about prior treatments, your occupation, the activities that fill up your life, your stress levels, and anything else that seems relevant.

Then we’ll move into a physical exam tailored to you specifically. If you’re an office worker dealing with neck pain, I’ll look at the factors specific to a desk job. If you’re a healthcare worker whose back pain comes from lifting patients, I might actually have you simulate that lifting so I can watch your technique.

By the end, I’ll have a working diagnosis based on everything we’ve gathered. We’ll talk through the treatment options, how often you’ll need to come in, and any questions or concerns still on your mind.

We love listening

I genuinely love hearing the details. The more you tell me, the better equipped I am to actually help you heal.

Do you remember when your pain started? Did it creep in slowly or show up out of nowhere? What makes it better, what makes it worse? Is it messing with your sleep, or making it hard to sit through a meeting?

And please, bring your questions. Wondering what chiropractic even is, whether it’s safe, whether it’ll be uncomfortable, or how many sessions you’re looking at? Ask. Curious how home exercises will fit into your already-packed schedule? Also a fair question.

Once we’re into treatment, keep talking to me. Feeling pain or discomfort during a session? I can adjust my approach right then. Has anything shifted since your last visit - your symptoms, your sleep? Every bit of that matters more than you’d think.

Your story leads to your tailored treatment

Your symptoms, your treatment

If you’ve got neck pain, your treatment is built around your specific flavor of neck pain. Stiff neck? You might get mobilization or adjustments to those joints. Overactive upper traps doing too much of the work? Soft-tissue therapy might be the better fit.

Your treatment, your schedule

I know your appointments have to slot in around work and family life, and that finding the time isn’t always simple. We’ll talk honestly about how often you can realistically come in, and build a plan around that - not around some ideal schedule that doesn’t actually exist for you.

Treatment based on your comfort level.

How comfortable you feel during treatment genuinely affects how well it works - so your comfort is never an afterthought here.

There’s more than one way to do an adjustment. You can choose a manual adjustment, or a gentler, instrument-assisted technique instead.

Not a fan of neck adjustments specifically? Mobilization - slow, controlled movement - is a comfortable alternative.

Whatever the treatment, you’ll always have a say in choosing the option that actually feels right for you.

Your care plan will evolve

Your care plan doesn’t get built once and left alone - it keeps evolving with you.

In the beginning, you might need more frequent visits just to get your pain under control. As things improve, those visits will likely space out.

Along the way, you might end up trying a few different treatment approaches, and discover that one genuinely works better for you than another - that’s normal, and welcome.

And life happens - your availability might shift mid-treatment. I get that some seasons are just busier than others, and I’ll work with whatever schedule you’re actually living in, not the one that would be most convenient for me.

Let’s start your path to care that’s genuinely as unique as you are.
