Back Pain Treatment Kitchener Waterloo

Wherever your back pain showed up from, my job is to help you track down where it actually came from.

Hands-on treatment for the low back

We know how back pain shows up in your life. Our purpose is to help free you of it.

Back pain has a way of showing up however it wants - sometimes all at once, sometimes so gradually you can barely pinpoint when it started.

Maybe you remember the exact moment. You were fine - until that new desk job had you hunched forward all day. Fine - until that fender-bender that seemed minor at the time.

When pain hits suddenly, you know to go see someone. But what about the pain that’s just… always sort of been there?

When there’s no clear starting point, it’s often an old injury quietly resurfacing. It tends to be less intense than the sudden kind, but that doesn’t mean it matters any less.

Wherever your back pain showed up from, my job is to help you track down where it actually came from.

Your back pain doesn’t come from a single source. That’s why we don’t look in just one place. We look everywhere we can.

The source of your back pain is rarely obvious at first glance - if it were, you probably wouldn’t still be dealing with it.

Your pain usually comes from a combination of things working together: old injuries, current health issues, and the way your body moves through your actual day, at work and at home.

To make sense of how all of that fits together, I take my time - your initial assessment runs 45 to 60 minutes, because rushing it would mean missing half the story.

Once we’ve determined the root cause of your back pain, we create a care plan just for you.

Once we’ve got a handle on what’s actually going on, your care plan gets built around your specific kind of back pain - not a generic one.

If your pain is coming from too many hours at a desk, we’ll likely focus on restoring mobility and strengthening the muscles that have gone quiet from disuse. That could mean adjustments to improve how your spine moves, exercises targeting your upper back and core, and yes - an honest conversation about your workspace ergonomics.

If it’s from repetitive heavy lifting, the focus shifts to improving your movement patterns and easing the strain those repetitive motions have been putting on your body. That might involve adjustments to restore proper joint motion, plus exercises to build strength through your core and hips.

Questions about this

What causes back pain?

A few of the usual suspects: lifting something too heavy, a sudden twist, or muscles that are either overworked or under-used. Any of these can lead to spasms, stiffness, or a sharp, unmistakable pain.

Your spinal discs can be culprits too. Think of each disc as a small cushion sitting between your vertebrae - it absorbs shock and lets your back bend and twist comfortably. When a disc is injured or simply worn down over time, that’s often where the pain comes from.

How can a chiropractor help with my back pain?

This really depends on what’s actually causing your pain - which is exactly why we start by figuring that out.

If your pain came from lifting something too heavy, I’ll work to pin down the actual source - often a strained muscle or a joint that’s become restricted.

If it’s a restricted joint, you might receive an adjustment to improve mobility, ease muscle tension, and reduce pain - sometimes paired with soft-tissue therapy and a little coaching on lifting technique so it doesn’t happen again.

Your personalized assessment is really what uncovers all of this.

What does a chiropractic adjustment look like?

Whatever you’re most comfortable with, honestly. Traditional adjustments use a quick, precise movement applied to a joint. If that’s not your thing, I also offer techniques built around slow, controlled motion instead - same goal, different pace.

Is chiropractic for me?

That’s exactly what your assessment is for. I’ll take a thorough look at your health history and current issues to figure out whether chiropractic care is genuinely going to help your specific situation.

And if what you’re dealing with falls outside my scope - a fracture, a severe injury, anything like that - I’ll tell you so, and point you to the right healthcare professional instead.
